ODOT to improve U.S. 30 crosswalk
in Clatskanie
New flashing beacon and concrete island refuge to be installed
CLATSKANIE—Starting on Monday, August 27, a contractor working for the Oregon Department of Transportation will begin a project that improves safety at the pedestrian crosswalk in front of the Safeway on U.S. 30. Crews will be constructing a new crosswalk that includes a flashing beacon and concrete island refuge.
The crosswalk is located just east of the intersection of OR 47 and U.S. 30. Not only will a flashing beacon and island refuge be installed, new curbs, sidewalk and American Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps will also be constructed. In addition, the project includes permanent signing and pavement markings.
Construction begins at 8 a.m. on August 27 with work scheduled weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. During construction, there will be periodic lane closures with flaggers controlling two-way traffic. Travelers can expect delays.
Work is expected to be completed by November 30.
