Second weekend closure of Lower Boones Ferry on-ramp to I-5 south
As part of the I-5 Paving & Auxiliary Lane Project, a contractor for ODOT will close the I-5 southbound on-ramp at Lower Boones Ferry Road this weekend to complete modifications to the ramp. The ramp will close on Friday, August 10 at 10 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, August 13 at 5 a.m.
In addition, ODOT will close the I-5 northbound off-ramp for Lower Boones Ferry during the third weekend of August, from Friday, August 17 at 10 p.m. to Monday, August 20 at 5 a.m.
This work is part of an effort by ODOT to improve operations and safety on I-5 from Highway 99W to I-205. Electronic message signs from both directions on Lower Boones Ferry Road will alert travelers of the ramp closures. Detour signs will be in place with the recommended detour to use the Carman Drive interchange, which is less than 1 mile north. Drivers may experience an increase in traffic near and around Lower Boones Ferry Road as drivers are redirected to use alternative routes.
Bike & Pedestrian Impacts
- The current sidewalk closure at the Lower Boones Ferry Road southbound on-ramp will remain. Pedestrian detours will be in place.
- All other sidewalks and bike lanes will be unaffected.
The following nighttime ramp closures are planned next week (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.):
August 12, 13, 14 – I-5 northbound Lower Boones Ferry off-ramp
August 13 – I-5 northbound Nyberg Street on-ramps
August 13 and 14 – I-5 southbound Lower Boones Ferry on-ramp
August 15 – I-5 northbound Haines Street on-ramp
August 16 – I-5 northbound Lower Boones Ferry on-ramp
August 15 - I-5 northbound Carman Drive on-ramp
Noise Impacts
- Residences and businesses adjacent to the project may experience construction noise during each of the weekend closures. ODOT has obtained required noise variances in order to complete the work.
- ODOT and the contractor will work to minimize the noise as much as possible, but there will be unavoidable noise, including back-up alarms.
- Use the 24-hour noise hotline for noise concerns: 971-673-5239.
Throughout construction, up-to-date traffic information will be available at www.tripcheck.com or call 511. Work is continuing most nights and some weekends on this project. Check Tripcheck for nightly ramp and lane closures, as they are happening intermittently and change regularly.
