Beltline construction closures coming
Expect delays and detours for five weekends

Eugene — Beginning Friday, July 20, sections of OR 569 Randy Papé Beltline Highway will close for five weekends to complete paving and road repair work. During the closures, both directions of traffic will flow on one side of Beltline in the work zones. Traffic will be separated by temporary plastic drums and the speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph.

Travelers should expect significant traffic backups and delays in the area. Use alternate routes, go at a different time, or try a new way of getting there by walking, bike or transit.

All five sections are located between Roosevelt Boulevard and River Road. When the road reopens each Monday morning the section will be completely finished with new pavement and striping, saving several weeks of work time in each area.

The sections to be closed are:

Friday July 20, 9 p.m. to Monday July 23, 5 a.m. Westbound Beltline Highway from Roosevelt milepost 4.38 to  6.09 Closed ramps: Westbound on and off ramps at Barger Drive

Friday July 27, 9 p.m. to Monday July 30, 5 a.m. Eastbound Beltline Highway from Roosevelt milepost 4.38 to 6.09 Closed ramps: Eastbound on and off ramps at Barger Drive

Friday August 3, 9 p.m. to Monday August 6, 5 a.m. Westbound Beltline Highway from milepost 6.09 to Northwest Expressway at milepost 7.44 Closed ramps: Westbound Highway 99 on and off ramps, westbound Prairie off ramp, westbound Northwest Expressway on ramp. Open ramps: The Northwest Expressway exit from westbound Beltline Highway will be open and signed as a detour for traffic headed north on OR 99 to the Eugene airport and Junction City.

Friday August 10, 9 p.m. to Monday August 13, 5 a.m. Eastbound Beltline Highway from milepost 6.09 to Northwest Expressway at milepost 7.44 Closed ramps: Eastbound OR 99 on and off ramps, eastbound Prairie Road on ramp, eastbound Northwest Expressway on and off ramps. Open ramps: Barger Drive will be open and marked as a detour for travel to the Eugene Airport and Junction City.

Friday August 17, 9 p.m. to Monday August 20, 5 a.m. Westbound Beltline Highway from Northwest Expressway at milepost 7.44 to River Road at milepost 8.46 Closed ramps: Westbound River Road on ramp, westbound Northwest Expressway off ramp

Closing sections is safer for work crews and saves time. A typical work shift is 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Allowing time to set up and tear down the work zone, only about six hours of paving and repair work can be done each night. The closures allow multiple shifts of crews to work continuously through the weekend for 54 hours.

The remainder of the project is being paved overnight, Sunday through Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

TripCheck is updated daily with construction locations and ramp closures. Travelers should know before you go and plan to adjust routes and travel times. Slow down, expect delays, and watch for crews in the work zone.

The project began in late May and is scheduled to be completed by October.

There are three major Eugene area highway projects affecting travels this summer.

For project information:
Beltline Highway
OR 126 Veneta to Eugene Highway paving and safety improvements project (begins Sunday July 22)
Interstate 105 (Washington/Jefferson Street Bridge) bridge repair project
(begins late summer/early fall)

The end result will be a safer, smoother and more reliable transportation system that connects people and helps Oregon’s communities and economy thrive.

Most work will be done at night. All schedules may change and are weather dependent.

For updates on traffic, go to www.TripCheck.com or call 511. Access for pedestrians, including those with disabilities, is available and identified through or around work zones.
