US97 Improvement Project Underway

Sunriver through La Pine

BEND – Crews from the Roy Houck Construction Company, under contract to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), have begun work on a major US97 improvement project between Sunriver and the intersection with OR31 south of La Pine.

Initially, motorists can expect to see construction along the west side of US97 in central La Pine as workers perform a “streetscape” project there, including curbs, planting strips, sidewalks.  This work is already underway.  Work on the streetscape project will take place during daytime hours, and motorists should be aware that there will be shoulder closures and slow traffic in central La Pine as the streetscape project continues.

Starting overnight on Sunday June 17 into Monday morning the 18th, workers will begin a repaving project starting at the US97 Sunriver interchange, continuing south through La Pine to the intersection with OR31.  The grinding and repaving of US97 will take place during overnight hours, from about 7pm to 7am.  Work on the paving element will end by September 30.

Together, these projects represent a nearly $10 million investment in the highway and improvements in La Pine.
