Open houses set for proposed seismic and operation improvements on I-205 June 5, 6 and online
Interstate 205 is a designated lifeline route and must function following a major earthquake in order to bring Oregonians lifesaving supplies and services. Preliminary design work is underway to address seismic resiliency, safety, operations and congestion along a seven mile stretch of I-205 between the Abernethy Bridge and Stafford Road.
The project team will host an open house including a brief presentation outlining proposed improvements in West Linn, Tuesday, June 5 and in Oregon City, Wednesday, June 6.
West Linn: 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, West Linn Adult Community Center, 1180 Rosemont Rd, West Linn, OR 97068.
Oregon City: 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, Tumwater Ballroom, 211 Tumwater Dr, Oregon City, OR 97045.
An online open house is available June 5-22 that outlines the proposed improvements along I-205 and provides an opportunity for you to provide your comments.
Improvements along I-205 include:
- Seismically upgrading the Abernethy Bridge which crosses the Willamette River between West Linn and Oregon City and all other I-205 bridges in the project area.
- Adding a third lane on I-205 between Stafford Road and OR 99E where the only two lane section of I-205 exists today in Oregon.
- Replacing West A Street and Sunset Avenue, which crosses over I-205 to accommodate the widened freeway.
- Consolidating two separate northbound I-205 on-ramps near OR 43 to eliminate the merging and weaving that currently occurs on I-205, reducing rear end crashes and improving traffic flow.
- Installing ODOT ReatlTime traveler information.
