New Vehicle Excise Tax

On January 1, 2018, House Bill 2017 became effective, included in the bill is a requirement for vehicle dealers in Oregon to pay a “Vehicle Privilege Tax” of 0.05% on any new taxable vehicle sold in Oregon. Dealers may collect the amount of the tax from the purchaser. This tax will show up as a separate line item on your vehicle invoices and purchase orders and should be considered when budgeting for new vehicle purchases.
