Night ramp closures begin on I-5 Monday
as sign replacement project begins
Night lane and ramp closures begin Monday night along Interstate 5 south of Portland as a sign replacement project gets under way.
ODOT will upgrade interstate highway signs on both I-5 and, later, on Interstate 84. The upgraded signs are brighter, more reflective and meet new federal standards.
The project area along I-5 will occur south of the Iowa Street viaduct in Southwest Portland and north of the Oregon Highway 217 interchange. The project area along I-84 will occur between Northeast 102nd Avenue and slightly east of the 148th Avenue.
Starting Monday, the following on and off-ramps will see closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
•Monday night March 19, the southbound exit 292 off-ramp to Kruse Way and OR 217 will be closed. Tuesday night March 20, the southbound exit 292 on-ramp from Haines Street will be closed.
•Wednesday and Thursday nights, March 21 and 22, the northbound exit 293 off-ramp to Haines Street will be closed.
•Friday night March 23, the northbound exit 293 on-ramp from Haines Street will be closed.
The following lanes on I-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.:
•Southbound lane closures between Exit 294 Barbur Blvd. and Exit 292 Kruse Way to replace a number of highway signs.
•Northbound lane closures between Exit 291 Carman Drive and Exit 294 Barbur Blvd.
Further night ramp and lane closures will be necessary on I-5 and, as the sign project area expands on I-84 full closures will be scheduled.
Please plan for extra travel time at night. For more information go to the project web sites for I-5 and I-84 or visit www.TripCheck.com
