Dear friends of the historic Salem Railroad Baggage Depot,

Many of us thought this day would never come, but it has arrived! We’ll soon be celebrating the completed renovation of the historic Salem Railroad Baggage Depot with a small ribbon-cutting ceremony, and we wanted to share the information with you.

Where: Railroad Baggage Depot at 498 13th Street SE, Salem, OR
When: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., January 30

You are welcome to attend – but please note, parking is limited and business will be going on as usual (Greyhound and POINT buses, etc.). You may choose to visit the depot another time - when it will be less crowded! - to see what the team was able to accomplish. You can learn more in a feature story on our Transportation Insights website.

You may recall that this project is the result of a unique partnership involving several federal agencies, several state agencies, the city of Salem and Greyhound, as well as a donation from a private individual. This building will house the Greyhound offices and will be part of a new multimodal facility connecting Amtrak Passenger Rail, the POINT intercity bus service, Greyhound, Coastal Connector, and local transit Cherriots bus service. There are also bike lockers to assist commuters and in the future, we hope for bike rentals, charging stations for electric vehicles and more options.

We will continue to update our FlickR site with photos from this project, so visit often – and if you aren’t able to join us for the ribbon-cutting, do plan to stop by soon for a step back in time; the facility will be open for business shortly after the ribbon-cutting event.

Thank you for your support!
