Marion, Polk and Yamhill Counties state highway construction update: December 30-January 6, 2018

OR 18: NEWBERG – DUNDEE BYPASS (Phase 1D)

OR 18: (Hwy. 39, Salmon River Highway, mile points 55.48 to 57.99)

This is a grading, structures, paving, signing and signals project developing the new bypass highway alignment connecting OR99W (Hwy. 1W, Pacific Highway West) to OR219 (Hwy. 140, Hillsboro – Silverton Highway), in Yamhill County.  This is the third contract for the multi-phase roadway connecting these two cities with a new route along the Willamette River.  This contract creates a completed two-lane roadway from OR99W (near Niederberger Road) in Dundee to a mid-way point at Waterfront Road in Newberg.

Much of the construction activity for this portion of the bypass occurs away from the current state highways. However, for the next couple weeks, they will be installing traffic signal modifications and testing, signing and landscaping, just south of the intersection of OR99W, with Niederberger Road and Parks Drive, of Dundee.

The primary impact to the traveling public, during the day, occurs on OR99W, at the South end of Dundee, where Niederberger Road crosses OR99W, over to Parks Road. This week, there will be truck traffic, hauling material across OR99w at Niederberger Road and Parks Drive.

Motorists should also expect intermittent traffic delays on OR99W, daily, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and at night between 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. Lane closures controlled by flaggers are necessary, at this location.

OR 18: NEWBERG – DUNDEE BYPASS (Phase 1G)

OR 18: (Hwy. 39, Salmon River Highway, mile points 55.48 to 57.99)

This is the third contract in the multi-phase bypass project that will connect the cities of Newberg and Dundee. The traffic signal at the intersection of OR99W and Springbrook Rd. was activated this summer. Although the new signal appears to be the same as the previous system, motorists need to be aware that the westbound 99W traffic is not allowed to make U-turns.

The Contractor has opened 2nd St. at the intersection of OR219.  Upon opening, motorist are prohibited from making left turns onto OR219 or crossing OR219, in both the easterly and westerly directions.

A concrete island is constructed on Springbrook Rd. where it intersects Wilsonville Rd. With this island, motorists are prohibited from making left turns onto Springbrook Rd. from Wilsonville Rd. and from Springbrook Rd. onto Wilsonville Rd.

Motorists should also expect intermittent traffic delays on the following highways and streets:

  • OR219 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to Noon on Fridays; and night time, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
