Shady Cove enhancement kicks off this week

SHADY COVE — A $2.7 million enhancement project kicks off this week along Oregon 62 in Shady Cove. The goal is to complete most of the major construction work in the “Jewel of the Upper Rogue” — famous for salmon and steelhead fishing and river rafting — by the end of May 2018, the start of the summer tourist season.

Prime contractor HGC of White City will build the project, which features roadway safety improvements along the business corridor from the Rogue River Bridge north to Cleveland Street, near the Shady Cove Elementary School.

The project improvements specifically include:

  • New curb, gutter, sidewalks and bike lanes on the river side of Oregon 62 from the Rogue River Bridge to the north side of Chase Bank;
  • New sidewalks from Chaparral Drive north to Cleveland Street;
  • New marked crosswalks and rapid flashing beacons north of Rogue River Drive, and between Chaparral Drive and Williams Lane;
  • New continuous two-way, left-turn lane on Oregon 62 from the Rogue River Bridge to Williams Lane; and
  • A right-turn lane with sidewalks from Rogue River Drive onto southbound Oregon 62.
