Fire forces early end to 2017 season of Columbia Gorge Express bus
The Eagle Creek Fire has forced cancellation of the two remaining weekends in 2017 of the Columbia Gorge Express bus service.
The fire also forced cancellation of the service last weekend, Sept. 8-10. The bus was scheduled to run weekends through Sept. 22-24.
In its second season of operations between the Gateway Transit Center, Rooster Rock State Park and Multnomah Falls, the bus provided over 27,000 rides to Gorge visitors. It has proven a popular alternative to driving and parking at the crowded Gorge attractions.
ODOT may expand Columbia Gorge Express operations in 2018.
