I-5 paving project to cause delays south of Wilsonville to Woodburn into October
Rolling slowdowns add to delays for southbound travelers
(Note: No construction during Labor Day Weekend)
WOODBURN—Travelers on Interstate 5 going southbound from Wilsonville to Woodburn should expect delays in the early evening as well as around 5 a.m. each weekday as the contractor working for the Oregon Department of Transportation continues to work on a major paving project.
The contractor has finished paving of the northbound lanes of I-5 between Wilsonville and Woodburn, and has now begun work on the southbound lanes. The work includes the paving of ramps south of Boone Bridge to Woodburn.
The paving work is scheduled between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday evenings. However, the contractor is using rolling slowdowns to remove barriers for the construction zone and that work often starts between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Travelers should be aware of the work times, and adjust their schedules accordingly, use an alternative route or expect longer delays.
Travelers are urged to slow down and follow the posted speed limits within the work zone for their own safety and that of the workers. Law enforcement has increased police presence to help travelers remember their shared responsibility to travel safely.
ODOT and its contractor are working as fast and as safely as possible to finish this important project before wet weather arrives later in the fall. ODOT appreciates everyone’s patience.
