Marion, Polk and Yamhill Counties state highway construction update: July 9-15
OR 18: NEWBERG – DUNDEE BYPASS (Phase 1D)
OR 18: (Hwy. 39, Salmon River Highway, mile points 55.48 to 57.99)
This is a grading, structures, paving, signing and signals project developing the new bypass highway alignment connecting OR99W (Hwy. 1W, Pacific Highway West) to OR219 (Hwy. 140, Hillsboro – Silverton Highway), in Yamhill County. This is the third contract for the multi-phase roadway connecting these two cities with a new route along the Willamette River. This contract creates a completed two-lane roadway from OR99W (near Niederberger Road) in Dundee to a mid-way point at Waterfront Road in Newberg.
Much of the construction activity for this portion of the bypass occurs away from the current state highways. However, for the next couple weeks, they will be installing special art and screening on the new overpass bridge, signing and landscaping, just south of the intersection of OR99W, with Niederberger Road and Parks Drive, of Dundee.
The primary impact to the traveling public, during the day, occurs on OR99W, at the South end of Dundee, where Niederberger Road crosses OR99W, over to Parks Road. This week, there will be truck traffic, hauling material across OR99w at Niederberger Road and Parks Drive.
Motorists should also expect intermittent traffic delays on OR99W, daily, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and at night between 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday night through Friday. Lane closures controlled by flaggers are necessary, at this location.
OR 18: NEWBERG – DUNDEE BYPASS (Phase 1G)
OR 18: (Hwy. 39, Salmon River Highway, mile points 55.48 to 57.99)
This is the third contract in the multi-phase bypass project that will connect the cities of Newberg and Dundee. Work activities include, but are not limited to grading, structures, paving, signing and traffic signals. The work areas in this portion of the bypass include OR219 (Hillsboro – Silverton Hwy) near Springbrook Rd, OR219 at 2nd Street, Springbrook Road and OR99W (Pacific Highway West) in Newberg.
The new traffic signal at the intersection of OR99W and Springbrook Rd. was activated on June 12, 2017. Although the new signal system appears to be the same as the previous system, motorist need to be aware that the OR99W traffic is not currently allowed to make U-turns.
Motorist should also expect intermittent traffic delays on the following Highways and Streets:
- Springbrook Rd. is closed between Lil Cooperstown driveway and Hayes St. OR99W motorist wishing to travel southbound on Springbrook Rd. will need to use the Brutscher St. to Hayes St. signed detour route.
- OR219 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to Noon on Fridays; and night time, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
- Daytime traffic delays on Springbrook Rd., Monday through Friday.
- 99W between 8:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
OR 18: NEWBERG – DUNDEE BYPASS (Phase 1E)
OR 18: (Hwy. 39, Salmon River Highway, mile points 57.99 to 59.67)
This is a grading, structures, paving, signing and signals project developing the new bypass highway alignment connecting OR99W (Hwy. 1W, Pacific Highway West) to OR219 (Hwy. 140, Hillsboro – Silverton Highway), in Yamhill County. This is part of a multi-phase roadway connecting these two cities with a new route along the Willamette River. This contract creates a completed two-lane roadway from Waterfront Road to OR219 in Newberg.
- Bridge construction activities will continue at both sites.
- Wall construction continues along 11th street with minor impacts to traffic.Re-alignment of Wynooski to the overpass bridge will require a short term closure of Wynooski at 11th
OR 18 @ Dayton Interchange Illumination Upgrade Project
OR 18: (Hwy. 39, Salmon River Highway, mile point 51.31)
This is an illumination and signing project. The purpose of the project is to upgrade the outdated interchange lighting system and replace some of the signing.
Motorist should expect intermittent traffic delays on the following Highways:
- OR18 between 8:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.
- OR221 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; and 7:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
OR99W @ Crowley Creek Project
OR 99W: (Hwy. 1W, Pacific Highway West, mile point 54.00 to 54.60)
This is a grading, structure, paving and signing project developing the new Bridge over Crowley Creek, replacing the current culverts, in Polk County. This project work is primarily concentrated between Smithfield Road and Farmer Road, 3 miles north of Rickreall.
Motorists should also expect intermittent traffic delays on OR99W, daily, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and potentially for necessary night work between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am Sunday through Friday.
OR22: Willamette River EB (Center St.) Bridge Deck Overlay Project
OR22: (Hwy. 30, Willamina - Salem Highway, mile point 25.00 to 26.12)
This is a bridge resurfacing and bridge joint replacement project.
Motorist should expect intermittent traffic delays on OR22, nightly, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Friday morning.
The contractor is scheduled to begin installing a special membrane on the bridge deck, followed by new asphaltic pavement. During this stage of the project, there will exposed bridge joints and potential for abrupt edges along the length of the bridge, so motorists should use caution when changing lanes.
