Lane County State Highway Construction

June 5 - 9, 2017

 

LANE COUNTY

US101: Siuslaw R Bridge (Florence), Cathodic Protection (MP 190.8-MP191.2)

Project Summary:

• Make repairs to the existing concrete and reinforcement and replace the cathodic protection system on the Siuslaw River Bridge
• Add seismic restraints to help maintain the integrity of the bridge in an earthquake
• Replace existing rail with new ornamental bridge railing, as well as improving pedestrian access to the bridge

Remarks: Single lane closures will be used for materials transfers, bridge rail and other roadwork on the approaches to the bridge. Delays may be up to 20 minutes, but will normally be 5 minutes or less. Crews are sand blasting on the south side of the bridge, and are working on bridge rail installation on the north side. Crews will be present most hours of the day. The job is to be completed by the end of March 2019.

I-5 @ Beltline Interchange – Unit 4 (MP194 to MP195.75)

Project Summary:

• Building a new bridge over I-5 to accommodate a reconfigured onramp
• Building a sound wall south of Beltline and east of Coburg Road
• Adding an additional lane on eastbound Beltline from Coburg Road to I-5 on ramp
• Extending the multi-use path for bike and pedestrian travelers. The multi-use path will be extended south, linking Harlow Road to North Garden Way

Remarks: This is the last phase of a multi-year interchange project. Minimal delays during the day are expected. Travelers should expect distractions from off-road work in the area and be prepared for trucks entering and exiting the roadway. The contractor will be drilling shafts for sound wall 3 and will continue constructing sound wall 2.

Rolling slowdowns are scheduled for Tuesday, June 6 on I-5 southbound and Wednesday, June 7 on I-5 northbound to set the bridge girders over I-5 for the new on ramp. This will occur between 10 pm and 4 am.

Drivers should use caution when traveling through the project site and pay attention to the 45 mph speed zone reduction on eastbound Beltline. Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. This project is scheduled to be completed December 2017.

Eugene Area Pavement Patching Project (OR126 & OR569)

Project Summary:

• Wheel path pavement repairs on OR 126 from the intersection of Beltline and West 11^th to Cornerstone Drive in Veneta
• Beltline pavement repairs

Remarks: Repair work has begun on OR 569 Beltline, with ramp closures at several locations. After all repairs are finished on Beltline, crews will begin work on OR 126 at the intersection of Beltline and West 11^th and will work towards the Cornerstone Drive in Veneta. The westbound traffic lane will be repaired first, followed by the eastbound traffic lane. Drivers should expect flaggers and single lane closures when crews are working. Crews will be working from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Crews had previously planned to repair OR 126 first.)
