Bypass work to close Springbrook Road

Newberg road to be closed for reconstruction into summer

NEWBERG—Springbrook Road will close to through traffic between late March and into the summer for full road construction. The reconstructed Springbrook Road will have two travel lanes, as well as a center turn lane, multi-use path, and some new traffic signals between OR99W and OR219. A new, larger city water line is also being installed. This construction is part of the Newberg-Dundee Bypass Phase 1 that is on schedule to open at the end of 2017.

For nearly a year, neighbors have experienced major construction activities on the shoulders of Springbrook Road. Flaggers have been able to accommodate a lane of traffic while they work. Beginning as early as the week of March 20, the work on Springbrook Road will move into the travel lanes and require hard closures at work zones 24-hours per day. Traffic will not be able to access past work zones. Detours will be in place, and move periodically, as the work moves along Springbrook Road. The existing road will be removed in stages and will be unsafe to travel on. Even at night, the detours will be in place. The construction of Springbrook Road will take several months of construction with signed detours. The work will last into the summer months. Please watch for signage and follow instruction from flaggers.    

Driveways to residences and businesses along Springbrook Road will be accessible, but may also require travel out of direction at times for safety. During the closures, travelers will be detoured around the construction area. Watch for detours using Hayes Street, 2nd Street, Fernwood Street, and OR99W to move safely through the area.

Springbrook Road will serve as the connection between OR 99W and the new Bypass of downtown Newberg and Dundee. The Bypass project is on schedule to be completed in late 2017. To find the latest information about the Bypass, please visit the project web site at www.newbergdundee.org.
