ConnectOregon: multiple benefits
The Pioneer Parkway Bus Rapid Transit program in the Eugene-Springfield area used a ConnectOregon grant to connect the region to a new hospital and the single largest cluster of hotels between Portland and San Francisco — a key part of the region’s tourism industry. The investment also improved connections for workers in the growing area, and by using bus rapid transit, the transit district reduced costs and environmental impacts, much like light rail but with lower investment.
