March 15 open house set for Caveman Bridge
GRANTS PASS — Come join us at The Lodge at Riverside, 955 S.E. 7th Street, as we host an open house for the $5.3 million Caveman Bridge Rehabilitation project, which is scheduled to begin construction after Labor Day weekend. The open house runs 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 15.
“The open house will showcase a walk-through of the bridge improvements and provide detailed information about the construction impacts to traffic and nearby businesses,” said Project Leader Stephanie Bentea. “We also encourage the public to bring pictures, postcards and other mementos related to the Caveman Bridge.”
The rehabilitation project will be the first major upgrade to Caveman Bridge since it opened in 1931. The project will:
- Repair and strengthen sections of cracked concrete, exposed rebar and failed joints along the nearly 550 foot structure;
- Repair bridge deck delamination and replace it with stronger concrete overlay;
- Replace the bridge rail, maintaining its unique aesthetic while meeting today’s safety standards; and
- Add new lighting that maintains the character of the bridge’s street lights.
ODOT attempts to hold all public meetings in accessible buildings. Accommodation will be provided to persons with disabilities, and alternate formats of printed material are available upon request. Please call Gary Leaming at 541-774-6388 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting (or statewide relay 7-1-1).
