ODOT will host an open house at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 at the Linnton Community Center, 10614 NW St. Helens Road, Portland, OR 97231, to answer your questions about an upcoming project paving U.S. 30 from NW Bridge Avenue to NW McNamee Road. ODOT staff will share information on the project schedule, traffic impacts, limited lane closures and several sidewalk ramp closures.
Project Overview
The project will repave seven miles of U.S. 30/NW St. Helens Road from the south end of the St. Johns Bridge to McNamee Road. Pavement in this area has deteriorated and is in poor condition. Areas of highway shoulder that need it will be paved, providing a smoother surface for people walking and biking. Sidewalk ramps and crosswalks will be upgraded or, in some places, added. Work will start in mid-July and should be complete by the end of October.
Traffic impacts
Travel disruption will be minimized as much as possible for people walking, biking and driving. The contractor will grind and pave one side of the road at a time, section by section. Most of the work will take place during daytime hours through lane reductions in one direction at a time to reduce peak-hour commuter impacts.
