Occasional bridge lifts, delays starting Tuesday
for maintenance on the Interstate Bridge

The Interstate Bridge will see occasional lifts for maintenance work in the weeks ahead on both the northbound and southbound spans. Most of the bridge lifts and work will happen at night. However, some bridge lifts will happen during the day, as daylight is needed to safely conduct the maintenance work.

Here is a look at the schedule.
• Tuesday, June 21. Maintenance bridge lifts of the northbound span will take place at 5:30 a.m. and again between noon at 2 p.m. for cable greasing. Also the southbound span will see multiple traffic stops between 10 p.m. and midnight for electrical testing.

• Wednesday, June 22. Multiple traffic stops on the southbound span for electrical testing. At 5:30 a.m., the northbound bridge will see a maintenance bridge lift with another between noon and 2 p.m. for greasing machinery. From 10 p.m. to midnight the northbound bridge will see multiple traffic stops for electrical testing.

• Thursday, June 23. From midnight to 5 a.m. and again from 10 p.m. to midnight there will be multiple traffic stops on the northbound bridge for electrical testing.

• Friday, June 24. More traffic stops are expected in the southbound bridge for electrical testing, midnight to 5 a.m.

• Friday, June 24. From 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, June 25, both bridges will see delays of 20 to 25 minutes while a crews of nine applies oil to six miles of bridge cable, part of the annual bridge maintenance .

Further maintenance work is planned for July.

The Interstate Bridge is jointly owned by Oregon and Washington and is operated and maintained by ODOT. The northbound span opened in 1917 and the southbound span in 1958.
