Marquam Bridge SB closing Friday night for repairs related to Thursday morning crash
PORTLAND – The southbound Marquam Bridge will be closed Friday night while crews make repairs caused by a truck crash early Thursday.
The closures will begin at 10 p.m. Friday May 6 with all ramps scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday May 7.
Traffic leading to the bridge will be closed at three points along Interstate 5 north of the bridge. They are:
- The ramp from westbound Interstate 84 to southbound I-5, with traffic diverted to northbound I-5.
- Southbound I-5 at the Fremont Bridge will be diverted over the bridge onto southbound Interstate 405.
- Southbound I-5 at the exit to eastbound I-84, with all traffic directed onto I-84.
The closure is needed to allow crews to replace the attenuator, which absorbs traffic impacts, where the Marquam Bridge separates into southbound I-5 and northbound I-405. The attenuator was damaged in the early Thursday truck crash.
Road restrictions and dates may change due to weather or other unforeseen delays.
