PENDLETON- The public is invited to provide input on the Draft Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan at an open house from 4 – 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the City of Pendleton offices, 500 SW Dorion in Pendleton. For those who can’t attend in person an online open house will be accessible from the website for anyone to review and comment on the draft plan.
The Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan is an important document for policy makers, planners, stakeholders and others interested in biking and walking because it creates a framework for making strategic decisions about bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs. Although it does not list specific projects or design requirements, the plan does identify biking and walking system needs and opportunities, with a goal of creating a path forward for achieving a connected, safe and efficient network. A brief video further explains the plan’s role in guiding decisions.
A 10-page Executive Summary (PDF) highlights the key points in the draft plan; the full plan is accessible from the website.
The plan has been developed over the past two years by several committees made up of stakeholders from around the state representing the active transportation community, businesses, non-profits, local governments and other organizations. Visit the website to learn more about the process, review the draft plan, and access the online open house.
