Pruning of Corvallis heritage tree to close on-ramp to OR 34 Bypass

CORVALLIS— The on-ramp to the OR 34/US 20 South Bypass at 4th Street in Corvallis will be closed Saturday morning, August 15th to allow a contractor to prune and support a heritage tree.

Beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing until 9 a.m., the ramp will be closed as the J.C. Avery walnut tree is trimmed.

Travelers who wish to travel west during that time will be directed to use SW Western Blvd. as an alternate route.

The J.C. Avery walnut tree was planted in 1876 and was among the first trees in Corvallis to be designated as heritage trees.

A contractor, Buena Vista Arbor Care Company, has donated time to prune and support the tree.

For additional information, contact City of Corvallis Urban Forester, Jon Pywell at (541) 754-1723.
