Width limits, ramp closures coming to I-205

in both directions starting Aug. 24.

 

CLACKAMAS -- Night width limits will be in place on Interstate 205 in both directions between milepost 3 at Lake Oswego and milepost 21 at Glisan Street starting Monday Aug. 24.

No loads wider than 12 feet, 0 inches will be allowed along the freeway on the following schedule.

  • Sunday through Thursday nights, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Friday nights between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • Saturday nights between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.

In addition, the following ramps will see intermittent closures during the same times.

  • I-205 northbound on-ramp from Powell Boulevard, U.S. 26.
  • I-205 northbound on-ramp from southbound OR 43.
  • I-205 southbound on-ramp from Washington Street.

The restrictions and closures are necessary to facilitate a project to grind and pave sections of I-205. The estimated date of completion is Sept. 4.

Motor carriers hauling loads wider than 12 feet , 0 inches need to avoid traveling through this area during the restricted times or use authorized alternate routes.

When the I-205 northbound on-ramp from Powell Boulevard, U.S. 26, is closed, traffic should enter I-205 southbound, take exit 17, Foster Road, and reverse direction to northbound I-205.

When the I-205 northbound on-ramp from southbound OR 43 is closed, traffic should enter I-205 southbound, take exit 6, 10th Street, and reverse direction to I-205 northbound.

When the I-205 southbound on-ramp from Washington Street is closed, traffic should take the ramp towards I-205 northbound and take Glisan Street to I-205 southbound.

Motor Carriers need to provide this information to their drivers, by copy of this letter or other means, to assure their awareness of the restriction.
