Overnight bridge inspection in Florence to create lane restrictions
FLORENCE— A routine bridge inspection of the US 101: Siuslaw River Bridge in Florence, will create nighttime lane restrictions this week, and travelers should allow a little extra time when crossing the bridge.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday night, July 30, and continuing until 6 a.m. Friday morning, travel across the bridge will be restricted to a single lane. Flaggers will control traffic and delays of up to 20 minutes should be expected.
A snooper crane will be used to inspect bridge elements. The crane will need to occupy a lane of travel during the inspection. A snooper crane is a piece of heavy equipment that can lower workers below the bridge deck level, providing close visual access to structural components.
ODOT inspects bridges every one to two years. Bridge inspections provide important bridge records; maintain public safety and confidence; and protect public investment.
