Signs installed along U.S. Hwy. 395 designating route as Don Kendal Memorial Highway
UKIAH, Ore. – On July 9 Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) maintenance crews installed two signs along a section of U.S. Highway 395 north of Ukiah designating the route as the Don Kendall Memorial Highway per Senate Bill 628. The brown informational signs are located at mile post 23.66-B near the junction of OR Highway 74 and at mile post 48.60-B near the junction of OR Highway 244.
On May 18th, Oregon Governor Kate Brown, signed into law SB 628, a bill chief sponsored by Senator Bill Hansell (R-Athena) and Representative Greg Barreto (R-Cove). SB 628 designates a portion of U.S. Highway 395, between Highway 74 and Ukiah as the Don Kendall Memorial Highway. It also required ODOT to erect and maintain the memorial designation signage along the route.
Don Kendall, a longtime resident of Eastern Oregon, was a Transportation Maintenance Specialist for ODOT for 30 years. He was tragically killed in the line of duty on July 22, 2014.
