Night closure on I-5 Thursday for sign work

between I-84 and the Marquam Bridge

Interstate 5 will be closed in both directions between Interstate 84 and the Marquam Bridge Thursday night as part ODOT’s sign replacement project.

The closure will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday July 9 with all lanes open again by 5 a.m. Friday July 10.

I-5 traffic coming from both the south and the north will be routed onto Interstate 405.

The ramp from southbound I-5 to eastbound I-84 will remain open.

This is the first of several nighttime closures this summer for the project.

ODOT is replacing the green highway signs on I-5 between Southwest Corbett Avenue and North Lombard Street and on both decks of the Fremont Bridge. The project will also add about ten new sign structures and replace about 300 signs in the project corridor.

The new signs will comply with new federal standards and will be more reflective and easier to read.

Funds for the highway sign replacement portion of the project come from 2015-2018 Statewide Transportation Improvement Programs
