The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is continuing to invest in Oregon’s future with roadway improvement projects throughout Oregon’s central region (ODOT Region 4). ODOT is committed to providing a safe, efficient transportation system. The following projects reflect ODOT’s commitment to make improvements as traffic numbers rise and to make the roadways safer and more efficient for drivers:

All work is dependent on weather conditions.  Red denotes new or updated information.

 

DESCHUTES COUNTY

 

US 97/Murphy Road Project (Bend)

 

Phase 1

Crews will continue landscape work in the vicinity of the 3^rd Street and Murphy Road roundabout and performing punch-list work throughout the project.

 

Phase 2

Earthwork operations along the new Murphy Road alignment consist of drilling and blasting. Watch for trucks entering and leaving roadway at Brookswood near Pinebrook and at 3rd Street and Murphy Road. Murphy Road west of 3rd Street is closed.

Temporary sign installation on Brookswood, Pinebrook, Baker, and US97 is planned for the week of April 27^th. No delays are expected.

Brookswood will be temporarily closed for roundabout construction starting May 14 through September 4, 2015. During the closure, detour routes will be designated and accommodations will be in place in case of fire evacuation emergencies.

US 20 @ 8^th Street (Bend)

This project will replace aging signals and poles at the intersection, reconstruct the corners at the intersection, upgrade pedestrian ramps to meet current ADA standards, restripe cross walks, correct drainage problems, and repave the intersection.

Night-time work from 8 PM to 6 AM is planned at the intersection of US 20 and 8^th Street. Sidewalk and signal facilities are being installed. Traffic is controlled by flaggers. Closures on 8th Street where it intersects US 20 are planned for the week of April 27^th. Traffic will be detoured around the work zone.

US 97 @ 1^st Street (La Pine)

This project will realign 1st Street and Reed Road, construct a left hand turn lane from U.S. 97 to Reed Road, construct right hand turn lanes for U.S. 97 southbound traffic to 1st Street, and westbound Reed Road traffic onto northbound U.S. 97, construct sidewalks along 1st Street between U.S. 97 and Huntington Road, install crosswalks and pedestrian refuge islands at the intersection of U.S. 97 and 1st Street/Reed Road; and signalize the intersection.

For the week of April 27^th, daytime construction on sidewalks at all four corners of US 97 and 1st Street and along 1^st Street. No lane closures or delays expected.

US 97 Bend Parkway Bridge Overlays

This project will remove existing bridge overlays and construct a new ¾” overlay on the Division and 3^rd Street bridges on US 97 in both north and sound bound lanes. Work will be done at night.

For the week of April 27^th construction at nights from 8 PM to 6 AM. 3rd Street and Division Street bridges continue to be prepared for resurfacing. Single lane closures are planned from 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday through Thursday nights. Workers on roadway with a 30 MPH advisory speed posted.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

 

US 97 J Street Intersection (Madras South Y)

This project will extend the one way couplet south of its current location to improve the intersection of US 97 and J Street. The project includes waterline work for the City of Madras.

For the week of April 27th, utility and road construction on US 97, J Street and South Adams Drive is planned. Northbound US97 is reduced to one lane. South Adams Drive is closed between I Street and J Street.

KLAMATH COUNTY

 

OR 140: Ritter Rd. – Deer Run Rd. (Bly Mtn.)

This project will reconstruct 9.2 miles of OR 140 in the Bly Mountain area (from Ritter Road to Deer Run Road). The intersection of OR 140 and the Bly Mountain Cutoff Road will be realigned.

 

Slash burning, grubbing, rock blasting, excavation and embankment construction are planned for the week of April 27^th.

 

Traffic controlled by flaggers and a pilot car during daylight hours Monday through Thursday. Expect delays up to 20 minutes.

SHERMAN COUNTY

 

I-84 @ US 97 Interchange – Biggs Junction

MP 104.5 and MP 0 to 2

KERR Contractors is building a modernization project at the Biggs Junction Interchange. The project will significantly widen US97 and all of the interchange ramps. The project also includes new retaining walls, bridges and signals. The work will take place in stages to minimize any traffic delays. The first stage will take place this summer, and it will include constructing the West half of the new US97 bridges over I-84 and UPRR. The project will be completed in the summer of 2015.

 

During the week of April 27^th – May 3^rd the contractor will be installing permanent signs, guardrail, barrier, various electrical items, and constructing the pedestrian island/crosswalk on the eastside of US 97/US 30 intersection in Biggs Junction.

 

All work except striping should be during the daytime hours and flaggers will be utilized to facilitate construction. Traffic can expect 15 to 20 minute delays.

 

I-84 is still reduced to a single lane in each direction at Biggs. Speeds on I-84 through the work zone have been reduced to 50 MPH.

WASCO COUNTY

 

I-84: The Dalles – Fifteenmile Creek

Highway 2 – MP 83.5 – 88.5

Wildish Standard Paving Company will be replacing the concrete pavement located on Interstate 84 within the city limits of The Dalles. They will also be constructing a new bridge on I-84 over Threemile Creek. The work will take place in stages in order to minimize delays and ensure that both freeway lanes are open in each direction during peak traffic volumes this summer and over holiday weekends.

 

Starting in early February traffic will be placed in a single lane in each direction to start stage construction. The first major stage will be completed by Memorial Day 2015. During the summer work will consist mostly of bridge construction. Roadwork will pick up again after Labor Day 2015 with the project being completed by Memorial Day 2016.

 

During the week of April 27^th – May 3^rd the contractor will be placing rebar and concrete paving behind barrier. The contractor will also continue to perform bridge construction and other miscellaneous preparations in advance of the concrete paving operation.

 

Traffic is placed in single lanes throughout the project both in the eastbound and westbound directions. Speeds are reduced to 50 mph on I-84 through the work zone. Traffic can expect minimal delays.

SHERMAN AND WASCO COUNTIES

 

I-84: CELILO – RUFUS SEC.

Highway 2 – MP 95.80 – 110.46

Oregon Mainline Paving will be replacing the top 2” of pavement in both the slow and fast lanes on Interstate 84. They will also replace the shoulder rumble strips, along with substandard median barrier with new barrier that meets today’s requirements for crash worthiness. The barrier replacement will take place during the day, while the paving operation and other project related activities will happen at night.

The temporary barrier installation and median work will be done in early May prior to Memorial Day; traffic will be placed in a single lane in each direction. After Memorial Day, traffic will be placed back in single lane configuration in each direction until paving is complete. All travel lanes will be open and in their normal configuration to accommodate Memorial Day traffic. The project is expected to be completed in the last week of June.

During the week of April 27th – May 3rd the contractor will be installing temporary barrier, temporary signs and traffic control devices. Traffic will be placed in single lanes throughout the project both in the eastbound and westbound directions.   Traffic can expect minimal delays.
