Hello Friends and Family of Oregon Adults in Custody,
As you may know, the Department of Corrections (DOC) is facing serious budget challenges, as are all state agencies. We are charged with managing public resources responsibly and maintaining safe, secure operations within current fiscal limits. Operational adjustments are sometimes necessary to reflect that balance. Given these realities, we want to let you know about upcoming changes to visiting across all facilities.
Visiting is a vital part of the well-being, family connection, and successful reentry for adults in custody (AICs), and DOC remains committed to preserving its meaningful role in the correctional environment. In the coming months, DOC will modify visiting schedules as part of broader cost-reduction efforts. Our priority is to protect essential daily functions—keeping yards and dayrooms open, minimizing program disruptions, limiting additional restrictions, and maintaining stable routines for adults in custody and staff.

Adjusting visiting schedules reduces the number of posts required during visiting hours, allowing staff to be reassigned to other critical functions or to limit overtime—helping sustain core operations without increasing costs.
Minimum custody facilities will offer visiting on weekends only. Medium custody facilities will offer visiting on two weekdays in addition to weekends. Any schedule adjustments will be implemented in phases and closely monitored. DOC leadership will formally review impacts after six months and make adjustments as resources allow.
Please know we are working to make this a temporary fix, and we will assess outcomes six months from implementation.
As always, please check with the individual facility where you plan to visit for any modifications to visiting days or hours. We also encourage you to sign up for visiting alerts here: Sign Up for Real Time Visiting Alerts. You can learn more about this change on our Engagement Page.
Day changes are reflected in the . Specific hours and holiday information will be provided soon.
