Electronic Healthcare Records System Moves Forward
What’s Happening?
We’re making progress! DOC Health Services is preparing to launch the new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system this fall. Institutions are actively getting ready for EHR Go-Live.
The new EHR system is a secure digital tool that will be used by DOC healthcare staff to support your loved one's health. Just like hospitals and clinics in the community, going digital means:
- Easier access to health records
- Faster decision-making
- More coordinated care
What It Means for Your Loved One -
No changes needed: At this time, your loved one doesn’t need to do anything different to access healthcare at their institution.
Care continues: Services like sick call, medication, and mental health care will continue as usual while Health Services gets ready for EHR Go-Live.
Staying Informed: We will continue to update AICs at DOC about the EHR through articles in newsletters and flyers. AICs are always invited to ask questions as we move forward with this important project.

Braille Program - CCCF
The Oregon Department of Corrections, in partnership with Oregon Corrections Enterprises, has expanded the Braille Transcription Program to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. The first cohort is working to fill 10 participant seats. With three women already in training and a fourth joining soon, the program equips incarcerated women with a highly specialized skill, promotes recovery and self-worth, and lays the foundation for sustainable futures—both inside and beyond prison walls.
The program is led by Deborah C. Adams, a formerly incarcerated Certified Braille Transcriber and Peer Recovery Specialist for addiction, mental health, and forensics. Her journey—from addiction and incarceration to professional success and national advocacy—serves as the cornerstone of the program’s mission.
Deborah shared, “Launching this Braille program at CCCF isn’t just about teaching transcription; it’s about building purpose, identity, and future.”
