Comedy at Two Rivers
Two Rivers Correctional Institution hosted its very first stand-up comedy show, bringing laughter and levity to the facility. The lineup featured three seasoned comedians from Washington: Greg Beachler kicked off the evening, followed by Lynette Manning, with Adam Tiller closing as the headliner.
Though all three performers have brought their talents to correctional institutions across the country, this marked their debut in an Oregon facility. Their sets covered everything from dating and relationships to travel and everyday life, keeping the crowd laughing throughout the entire 90-minute show.
The event supported ongoing efforts to offer meaningful programming that promotes connection and emotional well-being. For many, it was a rare chance to relax and enjoy a shared experience.

Amazing Operators
Two students from the most recent cohort at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility stood out—finishing in the top 2% of all operators trained by Baker Technical Institute (BTI) across multiple states. Both earned Level II operator certifications, a rare achievement, especially on the dozer, considered the most difficult heavy equipment to master. One earned Level II on the dozer alone, while the other achieved it on both the dozer and compact track loader.
These students entered the program with no prior experience. After four weeks on simulators, they advanced to real-world training in the land lab, completing construction tasks and earning certifications on the excavator, backhoe, skid steer, and more. Their commitment and progress are a true testament to what’s possible with focus and opportunity.
