2. Oregon Sea Grant webinar on offshore wind community benefit agreements, June 14, 2024

Oregon Sea Grant is hosting a webinar and discussion about offshore wind community benefit agreements on Friday, June 14th, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. PST

The goal of this webinar is to increase participants’ understanding of community benefit agreements (CBAs) and their relevance to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s (BOEM) offshore wind bidding, leasing, and development process. The presentations and discussion will offer insights specific to BOEM’s offshore wind activities in Oregon, including an overview of the CBA terms included as potential bidding credits in BOEM’s proposed sale notice for Oregon wind energy lease areas.

During this webinar, we will hear presentations from Matilda Kreider from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Katherine Hoff from University of California - Berkeley, Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment. Kreider and Hoff will share their knowledge of community benefit agreements from various renewable energy projects, including but not limited to offshore wind, from around the U.S. and in California.

The webinar will begin with brief introductions from Oregon Sea Grant, followed by two 20 minute presentations from each guest speaker. Presentations will be followed by an hour-long question-and-answer discussion where participants will be encouraged to ask questions on the topic.
