Oregon Coastal Management Program to Host Lincoln County Estuary Resilience Community Listening Sessions
The State of Oregon invites all interested parties to a series of listening sessions to help guide the development of a coastal hazard's vulnerability assessment for Lincoln County estuaries and surrounding communities. Staff from Oregon Coastal Management Program, the MidCoast Watersheds Council, and Oregon State University will use these community listening sessions to help assess which hazards are of greatest concern to local communities, the assets, resources, and populations that are most vulnerable, the impacts that are anticipated, and local ability to adapt to those impacts. Staff will hold three in-person listening sessions and one virtual listening session.

If you are interested in attending an in-person Listening session, please register in advance.
Attendees should plan for the listening sessions of approximately 2 hours, an additional hour is budgeted if discussion runs longer. If you plan to attend, please register and share this notice with other individuals in your organization or community who may be interested in attending and able to provide critical local perspectives on coastal hazards vulnerability. In-person sessions may focus more on the local estuary, but discussion and feedback on any estuary(ies) is welcome at any session.
Background:
The Oregon Coastal Management Program, MidCoast Watersheds Council, and Oregon State University are leading the development of a coastal hazard's vulnerability assessment for Lincoln County estuaries. The goal is to help local organizations and communities understand their vulnerabilities to a range of coastal hazards (e.g., sea level rise, storm surge, tsunami, erosion, etc.) and consider strategies to help coordinate and support locally led responses to those threats.
Click here to register for an in-person listening session now.
If you are interested in participating but unable to attend any of the listening sessions, please email Michael Moses (michael.moses@dlcd.oregon.gov) at DLCD's Oregon Coastal Management Program to request an individual interview, or with any other questions, comments, or concerns.
Thank you for your interest in this effort - community input is critical to the project’s success!
