OHP renewals: Free communication help or funding + free giveaway items
KeepCoveredPartners.Oregon.gov has a large set of free materials - in 14 languages - to remind Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members and other Medicaid recipients to keep their address updated and reply to renewal letters. Please download, customize or order free printed copies.
And, if you need something else to support your communications, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and its partner Metropolitan Group can provide free help or funds! This could include:
- Changes to materials so they work best for your audiences and the ways you reach people. (For example, people have asked for event banners, back-to-school flyers and wallet cards, which we are making.)
- Help to identify the best ways to share information, and help with the ideas that come up. (For example, we are meeting with groups that serve people experiencing houselessness to brainstorm what’s needed and make it happen.)
- Materials to use with the media - ads, articles, news releases, etc.
- Help to make the most of your social media, and funds to “boost” your posts.
- Funds for your team to do a communication project to share information.
- More, as needed!
What else do you need to get renewal information out there? Request free help or funding in either of these ways. Our communication partner, Metropolitan Group, will respond quickly.
Free giveaway items to use at events
We have heard a need for giveaway items to use at events to remind people to take action to protect their OHP and other Medicaid benefits. Please complete this very short survey to help us determine what to offer.
Tell us about other ways we can help you support Oregonians
Providing materials through KeepCoveredPartners.oregon.gov is one way we can support you and the people you serve during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) unwinding. How else can we help? Please take our three-minute survey to share ideas about ways we can improve how we share important information and resources with you, and receive your feedback. We appreciate your collaboration in helping people keep medical coverage.
Latest monthly data shows more than 3 out of 4 of Oregonians are keeping medical benefits as state reviews eligibility
The latest renewal data shows that more than 3 out of 4 Oregonians whose OHP came up for renewal in recent months have kept their health coverage. Fewer than 1 in 13 people’s benefits ended. In the remaining cases that have come up for renewal so far but have not yet been resolved, state workers are seeking more information or reviewing members’ responses. Many of those OHP members are likely to retain their coverage once they respond. See the latest news release for more.
Track Oregon’s progress on medical renewals: dashboard expanding, data updated daily
A Medical Redeterminations Dashboard tracks Oregon’s progress in renewing coverage for medical program members. It also has data by county and demographic, and is being expanded to include processing data. The dashboard is updated daily.
SNAP time limits resume this month in eight counties
People who are 18 to 49 years old and don’t have a child under 18 on their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) case might need to start meeting work-related requirements to keep their food benefits. These individuals have Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents or “ABAWD” status.
People with ABAWD status can usually only get three months of SNAP food benefits in a 3-year period unless they meet work requirements or have an exemption.
Under the federal guidelines, people who reside in the following counties must be exempt or begin meeting work requirements starting July 1, 2023: Clackamas, Deschutes, Jackson, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, and Washington. Learn more about the SNAP time limits on the ABAWD webpage.
People with ABAWD status received notices by mail in April and June. Anyone who received a notice should be advised to contact the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) ABAWD team. Call 1-833-947-1694 or email: SNAP.ABAWDTeam@odhsoha.oregon.gov.
