Safely shares critical health information with emergency personnel
In an emergency, every moment counts. HERO Kids is a voluntary, no-cost, secure registry that lets families and young adults record critical health details that first responders and hospital emergency department providers can quickly and easily access in an emergency.
For emergency medical providers faced with split-second decisions, HERO Kids Registry can fill the information gap. The HERO Kids Registry was designed by parents and medical professionals working together to improve the emergency medical experience for any Oregon child or young adult through the age of 26.
Help spread the word about the HERO Kids Registry:
- Offer HERO Kids brochures and flyers during visits, meetings, and appointments
- Tell colleagues and staff about HERO Kids Registry
- Help families complete the online HERO Kids Registration

Learn more about upcoming changes to the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) and other Medicaid benefits!
Every few years, Oregon asks the federal government for permission to improve to our Medicaid programs like OHP. The federal government needs to “waive” the normal rules to let Oregon make changes. This process is known as the “OHP 1115 Medicaid waiver.”
Upcoming changes approved in Oregon's current waiver include:
- People keeping their OHP/Medicaid longer.
- Starting in 2024, in some situations OHP will be able to cover housing, nutrition, and services to help provide support during climate emergencies.
You can learn more about upcoming changes at the Community Engagement Webinar series for the OHP 1115 Medicaid Waiver.
- This webinar series is on the first Wednesday of each month through 2023.
- The content is different each month.
- The webinars will occur in English at 10 a.m. and Spanish at 2 p.m.
July’s topic is housing services and supports within the waiver. We will go over who will be eligible for housing services when they start rolling out in 2024 and provide details about the anticipated supports.
A focus on how OHP members will be able to access housing services when they are available in 2024 will be a topic for another webinar. How Oregon ensures access to these services will be the focus of the planning effort this year.
We hope to help you stay informed and involved in the process as we make these changes!
We want your input on rules for OHP coverage for members under 21!
The Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment Program (EPSDT) ensures complete health care coverage for OHP members under age 21. Starting in 2023, more things can now be covered for members under 21 because of EPSDT.
OHA is updating the administrative rules for EPSDT. This will help make sure the new requirements about coverage are clear. OHA, CCOs and OHP providers must follow these rules when deciding about coverage for OHP members under age 21.
We would love to have your input! We want these rules to reflect the needs of OHP members under 21 and their families, as well as the providers and CCOs who serve them. We are looking for OHP members, parents/caregivers, providers, navigators/assisters, CCO staff and others to help us with this. You can choose to:
- Participate in a Rules Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting planned for late July or early August 2023. At RACs, community members provide input and suggestions about updating the rules.
- Meet with EPSDT staff this summer. We can meet just with you or your organization. We can also set up a group listening session at a time that works best for your community.
- Provide input through the public comment process this fall. To receive a notice when the public comment period opens, sign up for OHP rulemaking notices.
Interested in a RAC or other meeting or have any questions? Email EPSDT.Info@odhsoha.oregon.gov or call 503-891-9335 and let us know!
Accessibility statement:
