PORTLAND, Ore.— The Environmental Health Assessment Program (EHAP) at Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is extending the public comment period on a J.H. Baxter & Co. health consultation draft report with summary fact sheets.
OHA announced in March it would accept public comment on the documents through June 2, 2023, but public comments will now be accepted through July 31. The documents are available for viewing and download here.
“OHA received feedback from community members that they would like more time to prepare comments and ensure that everyone who is interested has time to do so,” said David Farrer, Ph.D., toxicologist with OHA’s Environmental Public Health Section. “OHA values community input and is happy to extend this deadline to allow more time for community members to respond.”
People who already submitted comments do not need to resubmit their comments unless they are providing new information, Farrer said.
The health consultation report outlines OHA’s analysis of community health risks related to industrial pollution caused by J.H. Baxter, a now-closed wood treatment facility in Eugene.
