Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has extended the deadline for filing grant proposals for the creation and operation of a peer-run respite Program in Central or Eastern Oregon.
The Request for Grant Proposal (RFGP) seeks state-based Peer-Run Organizations to operate a peer-run respite program for people who experience a mental health crisis or emotional distress that may lead to a higher level of care.
House Bill 2980 (2021) directs OHA to fund the operations of one peer-run respite program in each of the following regions: The Portland-Metro area, Central or Eastern Oregon, Southern Oregon, and the Oregon Coast.
The revised RFGP seeks organizations that can serve Central or Eastern Oregon. Funding for the program is $1.5 million.
The application deadline is Friday, April 21 at 3 p.m.
Peer-run respites are voluntary, non-clinical, short-term residential programs operated in home-like settings for people experiencing emotional distress. The respites are staffed by people with lived experience and run independently of other behavioral health support providers.
The program is being operated through OHA’s Office of Recovery and Resilience.
An informational meeting about the RFGP will be held Friday, March 31 from 1 to 2 p.m. More information about the RFGP can be found here.
