Federal partners are now signaling that they will extend the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) past January. With the public health emergency status staying in place, Oregon will keep:
- Providing continuous coverage and benefits for Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members;
- Providing medical benefits for recipients as a part of meeting long-term services and supports eligibility requirements;
- Applying each month for extra food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Emergency Allotments; and,
- Suspending work requirements for all recipients with an able-bodied adult without dependent (ABAWD) status.
Read this information sheet to learn about all the regulatory flexibilities and temporary benefits and services we will offer until the COVID PHE ends. Be sure to download the talking points for you and your staff for quick reference.
The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) Organizational and Professional Development Unit (OPDU) and other Human Resources (HR) units are offering managers a new curriculum of updated as well as brand new courses supporting the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Enterprise Values and Competencies. The course content reinforces the ODHS key priorities: Equity North Star, RiSE, and Trauma Aware.
This expansion of management and leadership development offerings strengthens ODHS’s commitment to provide continuous learning opportunities. Our goal is to equip our leaders with tools to manage the complexities of their environment and cultivate conditions for all employees to maximize their potential in support of the Oregonians we serve.
Updated and new Foundational Management courses available starting in December. Upcoming offerings can be found on the OPDU OWL page or in Workday Learning.
In August of 2020, the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) added the "O" to the agency acronym to help distinguish ODHS from the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The update is important for both clarity and to promote psychological safety for those we serve who may confuse the two agencies.
If you are still using the old acronym or old logos in places like your email signature, OWL site, communications with Oregonians, or other documentation, you can find the updated ODHS logos on the Publications and Creative Services (PCS) OWL page.
Keep in mind that ODHS is undergoing a rebrand, with completion expected sometime in 2023.
The Office of Health, Safety and Employee Well-being (OHSE) has extended the timeframe for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Worker Well-Being Questionnaire, which is known as the NIOSH WellBQ.
The survey will be open through November 18. It will take about 15 minutes to complete and your answers are anonymous.
OHSE selected the NIOSH WellBQ survey because it asks about aspects of your job and workplace, but also questions about your health and your life outside of work. The information you provide will give us a better understanding of how employees in our organization are doing and identify ways for the OHSE Total Worker Health (TWH) safety committees to improve worker well-being. Safety committees were formed in local areas throughout the state.
