There are several exciting updates to the OVERS system that will be available in January or in spring 2020.
All Modules:
New way to find records that need to be validated
What This Means: Every night a job will run in the background of OVERS that will identify records that have a 'New Event' status. Those records will receive a 'Valid' status and then be moved into their appropriate queues, which will make them easier for users to locate and update as needed. Available in January.
BIRTH Module:
The Voluntary Acknowledgment of Paternity form (AOP), in both the English and Spanish versions (45-31A, 45-31S), will only be available to print if specific criteria are met. Also, the mother’s primary phone and facility information will auto-populate the form.
What This Means: There are two requirements that must be met to print an AOP form. The first is that ‘No’ must be selected on the marital status question ‘Was Mother Married at Conception, at Birth or within 300 days prior to Birth’. The other is that the birth must be within five days of entering the record. If these conditions are not met, the form will not be available to print. The mother’s primary phone number and the name of the hospital or facility name and city will auto-populate the form from the information provided in the birth record. Available in January.
Cesarean births require an MD or DO designation for the Certifier/Attendant.
What This Means: Any birth record that is designated as ‘Cesarean’ in the ‘Final Route and Method of Delivery’ question will expect an attendant/certifier type of ‘Doctor of Medicine’ or ‘Doctor of Osteopathy’. An override can be used for this field. Available in January.
Issue on Delivery Page for Cesareans
Currently, there is an issue on the Delivery Page in OVERS when selecting ‘Cesarean’ in ‘Final Route and Method of Delivery’. To avoid any confusion, it’s important to hit ‘Next’ rather than ‘Save’ or ‘Validate Page’.
Do not be alarmed if you look back at the ‘If Cesarean, was a Trial of Labor Attempted?’ field and it’s blank. The information is being retained, however it won’t be visible until the record has been certified. You will know the information is retained because there is a green check mark next to the ‘Delivery’ page on the Birth Registration Menu.
DEATH Module:
Notification to be sent to funeral homes if manner of death is changed from ‘Pending Investigation’.
What This Means: OVERS has new functionality to automatically notify a funeral director when the Manner of Death on the 'Other Factors' page is changed from ‘Pending Investigation’ to a final Manner of Death. This type of change is completed by the medical examiner. The notification to the funeral director will be sent as an internal OVERS message and an external email. Available in January.
New authenticator app using phone validation code
What This Means: In addition to signing a record using a biometric device, we will be adding the option to enter a security code using a phone app. More information about this new option for medical certifiers will be provided soon!
