Launch of M365 Copilot Chat and M365 Copilot Licensing for Government Community Cloud
Enterprise Information Services (EIS) has developed "AI Access and Usage Guidance" and an approach for agency use of Microsoft 365 (M365) Copilot and M365 Copilot Chat.
M365 Copilot is available now through purchasing a license. It is an AI assistant integrated directly into the M365 applications suite such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, to enhance productivity.
M365 Copilot Chat will begin rolling out at the end of April. It is a conversational AI interface designed for more interactive and open-ended information retrieval and task completion. It is the preferred and supported AI for the state of Oregon.
The goal is to ensure agencies are informed and prepared for the deployment of AI technology and understand the risks, benefits, and pre-requisites for deployment.
EIS will be distributing guidance and details for the purchasing process and training in the coming weeks.

Shaping Oregon's Digital Future
Enterprise Information Services (EIS) has released its biennial Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Trends Outlook, outlining the key business and technology trends shaping the state’s IT landscape through 2027.
With a strong commitment to digital equity, accessibility, and citizen-centered services, this outlook reinforces Oregon’s mission to deliver secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions for all Oregonians.

Oregon Digital Equity Program Grant
The Oregon Digital Equity Program (ODEP) Grant Application for eligible organizations opens on Monday, April 7, and will close on May 22, 2025.
Through ODEP, the program will make federal funding available to carry out digital inclusion activities for members of covered populations and encourage adoption of internet technologies and delivery of essential state services.

SIEC Releases Updated Grant Guidance
The State Preparedness and Incident Response Equipment (SPIRE) grant program provides local governments and response partners with equipment for emergency preparedness.
The State Interoperability Executive Council (SIEC) recently approved new statewide grant guidance and investment priorities as appendixes to the Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP).

The Emerging EMOU Data Sharing Solution
Improving interagency data sharing builds trust and saves time.
The goal of the umbrella Enterprise Memorandum of Understanding (EMOU) initiative is to establish a collective and coordinated data sharing agreement between state of Oregon Executive Branch agencies. The EMOU enables state agencies to efficiently analyze and use data to enhance services for all Oregonians.

State Employee Resources
State employees have access to O'Reilly which provide free resources for technology and business training, knowledge, and insight that focusing on helping people succeed.
The platform provides live training courses, in-depth learning paths, and interactive coding environments.
For access, users will first need to activate their State Library account from the State Employee Resources page and then register for O'Reilly.

OED Director and Frances Awarded
Scoop News Group announced the winners of the 2025 StateScoop 50 Awards.
This year, the Director of Oregon Employment Department, David Gerstenfeld was recognized for State Leadership of the Year. Director Gerstenfeld will soon be taking over as Director of the Department of Revenue.
Also from the Oregon Employment Department, Frances Online won an award for State IT Innovation of the Year. With Frances, Oregon has set a precedent for national collaboration in data-sharing.

Digital Accessibility Resources
Digital accessibility is an approach to technology and content design that involves thinking specifically about the experiences and needs of people with disabilities.
We arrive at technology that works better for everyone by designing for those needs, and by following the guidance and leadership of people with disabilities.
A new page has been launched on the EIS website dedicated to resources toward complying with the new federal ADA rule on digital accessibility.

 Administrative Professionals Day and More
April is the time of year to not only recognize diversity and cultivate an appreciation of diverse cultures and backgrounds, but also to celebrate Administrative Professionals.
This month take the time to celebrate diversity and encourage the celebration in all forms to promote and raise awareness.
Additionally, Administrative Professionals Day is observed yearly to recognize the work of those support specialists for the ever-expanding responsibilities and wide-ranging job titles in our economy.
Administrative Professionals Day is April 23, 2025.
International PMO DAY
International PMO (Project Management Office) Day is celebrated each year on the second Tuesday of May. In 2025, we will celebrate on May 13 and show appreciation for those that work in a PMO, managing projects, keeping everything in line, accomplishing tasks, and celebrate the contributions to organizational success.

State Data Center System Automations and Data Integrations
In early March 2025, the Data Center Services (DCS) Enterprise Operations team released the Correlation application which will set the foundation to create a unified way to automate system integrations.
The system integrations will reduce triage times, reduce manual entries, improve data accuracy, and reduce EIS billing adjustments, which will act positively impact our customers.
Over the last two years, DCS has prepared for the future of automation by staffing integration and business intelligence developers and acquiring toolsets that will support our existing IT service management platform and monitoring tools to provide greater levels of customer service through enhanced responsiveness, improved service delivery, and now, better system integration.

Emergency Communications Month
The month of April is National Emergency Communications Month and the theme for 2025, "Resilient Together", aligns with the State Interoperability Executive Council (SIEC)'s vision of "Seamless, interoperable, and resilient emergency communications in Oregon."
The week of April 13-19 is National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week in Oregon. SIEC encourages leaders across the state to take time to reflect not only on the resilience of the infrastructure of their emergency communications but also on the dedicated people that support their systems. Take a moment to thank your local telecommunicator!
