Oregon Receives 2024 State Standard of Excellence Honorable Mention
On November 20, 2024, Results for America (RFA) hosted a virtual event co-hosted by the National Governors Association, where state government officials were recognized for their use of evidence and data in decision-making processes like budgeting, grantmaking, and direct services.
States received Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Honorable Mention certifications based on their systematic approaches to using data to enhance economic mobility. The event highlighted top-performing states and featured bipartisan leaders discussing their innovative strategies to maximize taxpayer dollars.
Oregon has been a leading state with the focus on evidence-based policy and practices since the first State Standard was released in 2018 and this year was awarded Honorable Mention as part of the RFA 2024 Invest in What Works State Standard of Excellence.
“One of my key priorities as Governor is making sure our state government uses its resources wisely and focuses on providing the best outcomes to support the health, happiness, and economic prosperity of all Oregonians. The Results for America recognition illustrates that Oregon continues to lead and mature in our use of data-informed decision making and in managing for results. I look forward to seeing agencies continue to strengthen their practices to deliver valuable services to Oregonians.”
-Governor Tina Kotek

Toys for Tots 2024 Campaign
It is time to bring some much- needed holiday cheer to some of our smallest Oregonians. The state of Oregon is participating in the Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign and EIS is participating as a drop site for the toy drive.
Toys for Tots provides happiness and hope to less fortunate children during the holiday season. The toys, books, and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence, and a positive memory for a lifetime.
If you would like to bring in a donation, we will hold them at the EIS North front desk, 550 Airport Rd. Salem, and deliver them on December 16.
You can find the 2024 Wishlist on Amazon and Walmart. Thank you for your support.

AI: What Is It and Why Should I Care?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) describes systems programmed to think and respond like humans in a simulation of human intelligence.
AI is powerful because it can simulate the intelligence and reasoning capability of the human mind, but it can analyze far more information and do it exponentially faster than any human.
While AI is not necessarily something to be feared, there are some dangers of which to be aware and when using AI, be very careful what information you enter and share.
