Leather Work Workshop with Comunidad y Herencia Cultural

Learn some basic leather working skills. Participants will get to stitch their own wallet or card holder with unique prints. They can even choose their own print and add it to their wallet or card holder. All supplies provided; space limited to the first fifty participants. All ages.
Comunidad y Herencia Cultural Presents the Culture of Charrería

Join us at the grand opening of a Charro and Escaramuza attire exhibition for a presentation learn about the history and relevance of the Charrería tradition, witness a rope trick demonstration and related cultural activities.
The exhibit features handmade Charro and Escaramuza attire, highlighting a tradition dating more than 500 years. "Charreria" serves as a way of honoring the way of life of the past that shaped Mexican identity. The exhibit will be in the library and is made possible by a collaboration between Comunidad y Herencia Cultural and the Coos Bay Public Library.

Crafting with Nature: Scavenger Hunt

Join us on a Scavenger Hunt to Mingus Park where we'll collect bits of nature and return to the library to make collages. Collages will be placed on display in the young adult section of the library with the permission of the artist.

Community Yoga
Thursday, July 11 on Zoom

Coos Bay Public Library, in partnership with yoga instructor, Kelli Bosak, will co-host Community Yoga on every second Thursday of the month. This FREE virtual event will be held on Zoom! This class will be a foundational group practice that includes guided instruction (and live demonstration via zoom) of basic postures, simple movements guided by the breath, and accessible exercises to build strength and flexibility. Ease of movement, standing postures, supported postures, and some passive stretches will be integrated. Time will be given to practice breathwork, visualization and meditation. Emphasis is placed on de-stressing the body and mind to help the student find a deep calm and inner sense of wellbeing. This class is appropriate for all levels.

Volunteers ages 14+ are needed! Coos Bay Public Library invites its local citizens to help paint a mural in the Library’s spillover parking lot (on Bennett and 6th Street). Please bring sunscreen, water, and clothes you don’t mind getting messy!
Artist Megan Gray will have outlined the mural for the painting portion of this event (July 22), and will give volunteers direction.
