Update - Joseph State Airport - AWOS Replacement Project Starting October 5th

9/29 Update - The Joseph State Airport (JSY) Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) Replacement project will begin Monday October 5th.

*This work was previously scheduled to begin earlier in September, but will now begin Monday October 5th. The construction completion date is now anticipated to be 10/15.

This project will replace the existing AWOS in its current location with the latest model. This will improve availability of parts and serviceability.

Project/Closure Schedule:

• There are no surface closures with this project, though construction vehicles will be operating around traffic on Taxiway Alpha, the taxilane, and apron. 
• The start date is Monday October 5th and should be completed by Thursday October 15th.
• Other than the current AWOS being out of service until the new system is commissioned, no other disruption to aircraft operations are expected throughout this project.

Important Operating Information

(!) For the most current updates on field conditions throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs. 

(!!) Construction personnel and equipment will be operating around aircraft traffic on the taxiways and apron.

(!!!) As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas. This includes aircraft, vehicles, and pedestrians.
