Update - Independence State Airport - PAPI Replacement Project Starting 9/21/2026
Oregon Department of Aviation sent this bulletin at 09/02/2026 02:45 PM PDTUpdate - The Independence State Airport (7S5) Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) Replacement project will be starting September 21st, 2026.
This project will replace the existing out-of-service PAPIs in their current locations with the latest models. This will improve availability of parts and serviceability.

Project/Closure Schedule:
- This project will require the runway to be closed for a total of 6 days.
- The runway will be closed from Monday September 21st through Saturday September 26th.
- We will reopen the runway as quickly as possible.
- Taxiway Alpha and the apron will be open for maneuvering aircraft on the ground. Please use caution for construction vehicles and personnel operating in these areas.
Important Operating Information
(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs.
(!!) When the runway is closed, fixed wing aircraft will not be able to arrive or depart at Independence until the runway reopens.
(!!!) During runway closures, Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from open areas of the airport.
(!!!!) Construction personnel and equipment will be operating on the taxiways and apron.
(!!!!!) As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas. This includes aircraft, vehicles, and pedestrians.
