The Joseph State Airport (JSY) Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) Replacement project will be starting September 14th.

This project will replace the existing AWOS in its current location with the latest model. This will improve availability of parts and serviceability.

Project/Closure Schedule:

  • There are no surface closures with this project, though construction vehicles will be operating around traffic on Taxiway Alpha, the taxilane, and apron. 
  • The start date is Monday September 14th and should be completed by Thursday September 24th
  • A surveyor will be working near the runway on Tuesday September 15th.
  • Other than the current AWOS being out of service until the new system is commissioned, no other disruption to aircraft operations are expected throughout this project.

Important Operating Information

(!) For the most current updates on field conditions throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs. 

(!!) Construction personnel and equipment will be operating around aircraft traffic on the taxiways and apron.

(!!!) As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas. This includes aircraft, vehicles, and pedestrians.
