The Independence State Airport (7S5) Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) Replacement project will be starting summer 2026.

This project will replace the existing out-of-service PAPIs in their current locations with the latest models. This will improve availability of parts and serviceability.

7S5 PAPIs

Project/Closure Schedule:

  • This project will require the runway to be closed for a total of approximately 6 days.
  • We will work to keep impacts such as runway closures as short as possible.
  • Construction start dates and duration will be shared in a future update as soon as that information is available.

Important Operating Information

(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs.

(!!) When the runway is closed, fixed wing aircraft will not be able to arrive or depart at Independence until the runway reopens.

(!!!) During runway closures, Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from open areas of the airport.

(!!!!) Construction personnel and equipment will be operating on the taxiways and apron.

(!!!!!) As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas. This includes aircraft, vehicles, and pedestrians.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we maintain 7S5.
