Update: Siletz Bay State Airport Runway Project - Runway and Taxiway Closure 10/21
Oregon Department of Aviation sent this bulletin at 10/20/2025 10:49 AM PDTUpdate: The runway and taxiways at the Siletz Bay State Airport (S45) will close 10/21 for final markings application. This work will complete the Runway and Electrical Rehabilitation Project, which was substantially completed in September.

The Project:
This project will resurface the aging north 2/3rds of the runway, as well as the low portions on the south end. It will also replace the nearly 40 year old airfield electrical system.

Project/Closure Schedule:
- Runway and Taxiway Closure Starting: 9am, 10/21/2025
- Anticipated Reopening: 7pm, 10/21/2025*
-
*Reopening dates are subject to change.
- The runway, parallel taxiway, and taxiway connectors will be closed starting 9am. The runway and a portion of Taxiway A will reopen as soon as work in those areas is completed. The remaining portion of the taxiway may be closed until work is fully completed.
- Back-taxi on the runway may be required when the taxiway is partially closed.
REMINDER: During this closure, the runway and taxiways will be closed to all foot, vehicle, and aircraft traffic. Once construction begins, any fixed-wing aircraft at S45 will not be able to depart until the airport reopens.
(!) Closure and reopening dates/times are subject to change. For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs. Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from the apron. However, space is limited and construction personnel and equipment will be on the apron frequently. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas.
We understand any closure impacts pilots and the community. Our goal is to maintain and improve the Siletz Bay State Airport so it can continue to operate safely and efficiently. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we maintain S45.
