Update - Cottage Grove State Airport Apron Rehab Project
Oregon Department of Aviation sent this bulletin at 09/24/2025 02:08 PM PDTUpdate - The Cottage Grove State Airport (61S) Apron Rehabilitation project is anticipated to be substantially completed and reopen the apron Monday October 13th. 1-2 additional day-closures may be needed to complete final marking application, dependent on weather.
During construction we encountered unexpected issues with underlying soils that were unable to carry construction loads. These conditions and the appropriate treatment are the cause for delay in completing the project. We have worked through these issues and expect the remainder of the project to wrap up smoothly.

Project/Closure Schedule:
- Project start date: 6/02/2025
- Phase 1 Closure (south half of main apron): Completed, reopened
- Phase 2 Closure (north half of main apron): 8/25/25 - 10/13/25*
- The runway will remain open for the duration of the project
- * Phase switch and reopening dates are subject to change. Any changes will be announced with advanced notice.
During construction, the closed portions of the apron will be off limits to all foot, vehicle, and aircraft traffic. Once the project begins, any aircraft restricted by the apron closure will not be able to relocate until the apron reopens after that phase of construction is completed.
(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs. Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from the open portions of the apron. However, space is limited and construction personnel and equipment will be on the apron frequently. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas.
We understand any closure impacts pilots and the community. Our goal is to maintain and improve the Cottage Grove State Airport so it can continue to operate safely and efficiently. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we maintain 61S.
