Update: Cottage Grove State Airport - Apron Rehab Project - Phase Change 8/21-8/24
Oregon Department of Aviation sent this bulletin at 08/11/2025 09:18 PM PDTUpdate: The Cottage Grove State Airport (61S) Apron Rehabilitation project will be completing Phase 1 Thursday August 21st, and starting Phase 2 Monday August 25th, 2025. Every fixed wing aircraft currently tied down or stored in a hangar will need to relocate to the recently completed Phase 1 apron tiedowns between Thursday 8/21 and Sunday 8/24 in order to access the runway during the upcoming Phase 2 construction.
!!! Any aircraft in the hangars or tied down on the west apron near the museum on the morning of 8/25 will not be able to access the runway until Phase 2 is completed. Aircraft on the apron or away from the airport on 8/25 will not be able to reach hangars along the hangar taxilane.
This project will repave the main apron and tiedown area, which is being completed in two phases. This phased approach will minimize impacts to tenants and maintain access to the runway and taxiways, as well as the 100LL fuel tank.
The runway, taxiways, and west taxilane/west apron will not be impacted, though access from hangars may be restricted depending on the phase of construction. We will accommodate aircraft from hangars where access is restricted with temporary parking on the open portion of the apron.

Project/Closure Schedule:
- Project start date: 6/02/2025
- Phase 1 Closure (south half of main apron): Ending 8/21/25
- Phase 2 Closure (north half of main apron): 8/25/25* - 10/04/25* (40 days)
- The runway will remain open for the duration of the project
- * Phase switch and reopening dates are subject to change. Any changes will be announced with advanced notice.
During construction, the closed portions of the apron will be off limits to all foot, vehicle, and aircraft traffic. Once the project begins, any aircraft restricted by the apron closure will not be able to relocate until the apron reopens after that phase of construction is completed.
(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs. Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from the open portions of the apron. However, space is limited and construction personnel and equipment will be on the apron frequently. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas.
We understand any closure impacts pilots and the community. Our goal is to maintain and improve the Cottage Grove State Airport so it can continue to operate safely and efficiently. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we maintain 61S.
