Update - Aurora Runway Rehabilitation Project
Oregon Department of Aviation sent this bulletin at 07/18/2025 03:27 PM PDTUpdate - The Oregon Department of Aviation (ODAV) is continuing to work with its engineers and contractor to deliver a start date and schedule for the upcoming Aurora State Airport (UAO) runway rehabilitation project. This information will be shared as soon as possible. The project is still expected to begin in August as planned.
The Project - The runway at UAO is nearing its end of life and is in need of maintenance.
ODAV has been developing a project to repave the runway, and has been planning to start construction in the summer of 2025.
Some factors outside the Department's control have delayed executing grant agreements. As grants are now starting to come out, ODAV is expecting to begin construction on the Runway Rehabilitation Project as planned in 2025.
Starting in August, ODAV anticipates the runway at UAO to be closed between 45 and 60 days for repaving, grooving, and marking application. As soon as grants are executed, a schedule will be confirmed and shared in a future update. More information will follow as soon as it is available.

Because this project is contingent on grant funding, any delays or unforeseen issues may cause the project to push to the next construction season.
ODAV remains committed to maintaining a safe operating environment, and we understand any runway closure affects airport users and surrounding communities. Thank you for your patience while we maintain UAO.
