Update: The Cottage Grove State Airport (61S) Apron Rehabilitation project will begin June 2nd, 2025. A phasing schedule is listed below.

This project will repave the main apron and tiedown area, which will be completed in two phases over 90 days. This phased approach will minimize impacts to tenants and maintain access to the runway and taxiways, as well as the 100LL fuel tank.

The runway, taxiways, and west taxilane/west apron will not be impacted, though access from hangars may be restricted depending on the phase of construction. We will accommodate aircraft from hangars where access is restricted with temporary parking on the open portion of the apron.

Cottage Grove Apron Phasing

Project/Closure Schedule:

  • Project start date: 6/02/2025
  • Phase 1 Closure (south half of main apron): 6/02/25 - 7/22/25* (50 days)
  • Phase 2 Closure (north half of main apron): 7/23/25* - 9/02/25* (40 days)
  • The runway will remain open for the duration of the project
  • * Phase switch and reopening dates are subject to change. Any changes will be announced with advanced notice.

During construction, the closed portions of the apron will be off limits to all foot, vehicle, and aircraft traffic. Once the project begins, any aircraft restricted by the apron closure will not be able to relocate until the apron reopens after that phase of construction is completed.

(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs. Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from the open portions of the apron. However, space is limited and construction personnel and equipment will be on the apron frequently. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas.

We understand any closure impacts pilots and the community. Our goal is to maintain and improve the Cottage Grove State Airport so it can continue to operate safely and efficiently. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we maintain 61S.
